Re carrying epipens on board, I have a GP covering letter from 2006. Given that my holiday is in 2 weeks time and I have precious little time to visit my GP, will this letter from 2 years ago be sufficient to carry my epipens on board?

no-one has ever bothered to read ours. Peanut allergies don't change and they could always phone your gp to confirm that. If your address is on the letter and it differs from the one o the ticket maybe that would matter.

My son has had a letter from his allergist in Canada for 4 years and always uses that one. We do carry the letter but have never been asked (not even when leaving the UK at Heathrow). I think that as long as your letter states your name, it is OK to use, regardless of the year it was written. Like tatt says... allergies don't change.

In the last 5 years I have travelled to London, Spain twice, Canada (external and internal), America twice (external and internal). And I have never even been asked why I am carrying an EpiPen, so it has never caused me any problems.

I have never been asked for a letter (even though I have one!)

We went to Lanzarote in November, i got a letter from the gp, i phoned that morning and it was done by the afternoon so worth you asking anyway as you might get it in time. No one looked at the letter or epipens but i felt much safer knowing i had the letter to prove it. You could always photocopy the letter and tip ex out the date if you havent got time to get a new one.
